Gumbo’s Truck

Returning a rental car to the airport, we found one of our most unexpected treasures. Parked in an adjacent parking lot in pristine condition and as green as ever, there it was! Entering a fence, we realized that we were entering the local FED EX office. It seems that at the time, the truck was owned by an employee. Although we have not connected with the owner, we have seen the truck on several occasions. We keep looking, but as hard as we try, we don’t see our favorite Cajun barkeep behind the wheel.

Mile 0 Marker

Anyone visiting Key West usually travels to Fleming and Whitehead Streets to snap a picture of the end of US Highway 1 and the Mile Marker 0. To some, this represents the actual end of the world! As an interesting piece of show trivia: fictitious Highway 1 and Mile Marker 0 signs were placed by the crew of “Key West” at the White Street Pier while filming. Unfortunately, filming had to be halted one day and the signs remained, leading to nowhere.

The Conch Tour Train

Used in episode 13, Heavy Metal Heavy Hearts, the Conch Tour Train also makes its appearances in various other episodes.
