Bertrum Stoddard, 80, lifelong citizen of Key West died at his home on Friday.
His pursuits in life were as an entrepreneur, sportsman, author, lecturer, philosopher, treasure hunter and philanthropist.
Stoddard was well known, loved and admired by residents of the island, but left no survivors. Instead, he left
a legacy to those who knew him, and his property holdings to the city of Key West, to be maintained in the best
interest of the community.
Stoddard's view of life was that a man's memorabilia is only a reference. It's what is inside that shows his
true character. Those who knew Stoddard felt they were winners for having known him. With Stoddard, a piece
of the island died.
Christian Service at Memory Gardens to follow cremation.
